Thursday saw the start of the winter skiing season at Charterhouse, with eleven pupils embarking on slalom training at Aldershot Ski Centre for the first time. They are part of a fourteen-strong team who will be competing in the Independent Ski and Snowboard Championships in Les Deux Alpes in December.
Whilst all pupils involved are strong skiers on snow, for many it was the first time on a dry slope, which took some getting used to. They are also starting to get to grips with the most challenging course they will be facing in December – the Slalom – which is requires a whole different style of skiing.
In December they will also be facing the Giant Slalom and the very exciting Parallel Slalom team event on the glacier at Les Deux Alpes, so the training will need to continue!
